Known for their economic capabilities, these countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), collectively employ nearly 35 million foreign workers from around the world, predominantly from South Asia.

Where do foreign workers come from in the GCC?
Generations of foreign workers in the Gulf countries have made significant contributions to the economy, including laborers, builders, domestic servants, security personnel and cleaners. — All who are vital for the creation of modern infrastructure, which is famous for the Gulf States.
Millions of people consider the Gulf their home, despite having citizenship of other countries.
In addition, highly qualified foreign specialists have a long history of working in industries such as banking, finance, technology, engineering, aviation, medicine and the media.

Bangladesh: 5 million
Pakistan: 4.9 million

Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is the largest of the six GCC countries with a population of nearly 37 million.
The oil-rich country has about 20.5 million local residents and an additional 16.4 million foreign residents.

The UAE
United Arab Emirates ranks second in terms of population in GCC — About 11.5 million people.
The country consists of seven emirates, including the capital of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm el-Kaywain, Ras el-Khaimu and Fujairah.
UAE citizens (Emirati) make up almost 12 percent of the population, foreigners — Almost 88 percent.
