— The U.S. delegation, led by President Trump, is expected to focus on economic growth and financial stability, leading to fewer working groups. At the same time, the American side will focus on the prospects of limiting or eliminating regulation and providing affordable energy through the development of new technologies.
All of this will naturally contribute to ousting climate change, sustainable development, justice and equality issues to the periphery of the discussion. However, the leaders of countries interested in maintaining these topics in the structure of the agenda (India, Brazil, South Africa) are already discussing strategies for how to continue the relevant discussions in new formats.
The presence at the summit of the President of Russia will directly depend on the dynamics of negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Therefore, in this case, it is extremely difficult to accurately assess the probability of an event. It can only be said that the conclusion of at least a truce on the terms voiced by Russia is a necessary condition for the appearance of Vladimir Putin among the participants of the summit.
The participation of the head of the PRC in the summit is in question. The probability of his absence is still quite high. He previously missed the 2023 summits in India and 2025 in South Africa, sending Prime Minister Li Qiang instead. The dynamics of the US-China relationship also does not increase the chances of Xi Jinping visiting the summit site.
